About Glen Park

Glen Park is a small residential neighborhood in San Francisco. The neighborhood is named after the Glen Canyon Park, which is located adjacent to it. It sits on the southeastern edge of the central hills of San Francisco. A part of the San Francisco Planning Department’s design, this neighborhood is bordered by Diamond Heights, Noe Valley, Bernal Heights and Outer Mission.

Glen Park was initially developed in the 1890s following the launching of the San Francisco and San Mateo Electric Railway. The topography is a huge part of what gives Glen Park its village atmosphere. It is also highly accessible from the highway, which makes driving to and from the neighborhood relatively easy. Public transportation is also accessible, which makes it advantageous for commuters. Meanwhile, criminal activity is low in this neighborhood. These factors combine to make real estate in this neighborhood desirable.

While it is cut off from the heart of the city by a big hill, there are sufficient recreational opportunities without the need to step out of this neighborhood. Glen Park has its own recreation center, open benches, and its own branch of the San Francisco Public Library. Though Glen Park itself is not home to many restaurants, shops and cafes, residents can head to the nearby Bosworth, Diamond and Cherry streets. This area provides a cluster of commercial establishments that include restaurants like Gialina Pizzeria and Tyger’s Diner.
